14’   Frederick Goeller Sea Mew Gaff Sloop

by

Nick & John England / 1985

You know all about the delights of “messing about in boats”.  It’s always seemed to us “messing about” is most fun when done in little boats.  Well here is the absolute perfect little boat to mess about in.

She’s a 14’ “Sea Mew” gaff sloop designed by Frederick Goeller in 1916 and built in 1985 by Nick and John England from Tidewater Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay.   She’s a lovely little centerboard daysailor built to the highest standards of craftsmanship.  Her bottom is double-planked fir and her topsides are white cedar.  Her deck is laid teak and she sports a gorgeous, one-piece bent teak cockpit coaming.  Sitka spruce spars and bowsprit, even bronze belaying pins.....everything just as it should be on a true classic daysailor.

Her    6’8” beam makes her just about half as wide as she is long.  That makes her a VERY big 14-footer with plenty of room for folks, dogs, food, camp gear, whatever.  It also makes her stable, secure, and fun for young kids.  But when it breezes up, she’ll really scoot (see the picture below)!

This Sea Mew has been owned and loved by the same family since she was built.  She’s been impeccably maintained “as-new” by her builders.  She was even featured in Classic Boating Magazine Number 78, December 1994 (pp. 33-38).  She is an absolute gem in perfect condition!

Included with her is a 3 hp Yamaha outboard with demountable bracket, a fitted cockpit cover, and a galvanized trailer.

If you want a distinctive, high-quality, sweet performing classic daysailor, one that you or your kids will spend many memorable afternoons “messing around” with, you will never find one nicer than this little Sea Mew.  She is being offered at a very attractive price - worth every penny and many more -   probably one-quarter the cost of replacing her today.

Price:  $15,500 Remember this was a ad on the net, this boat has long been sold
